Sometimes bleeding occurs following an embryo transfer. Implantation bleed is often a sign of early pregnancy. The issue is that the blood is nearly indistinguishable from normal menstrual spotting.

Dr. George Patounakis explains that, “there’s no way to tell the difference between intermenstrual bleeding and implantation bleeding just by looking.”

Dr. Patounakis further explains that women who experience abnormal bleeding should seek the help of a medical professional, such as their OB/GYN or an emergency center, immediately.
